A consolidation trend formation usually occurs during the up or down trend and arrests represent temporary price side or stagnation in areas that end with the resumption of the trend prior to training. Within this family the most common are:

Symmetrical Triangle
Ascending Triangle
Descending Triangle
Flags
Wedges
Pennants
Difficult formations rating:
Channels
Gaps
To identify a trend change figure we have previously determined with certainty the trend. Usually the first sign that we are in a shape change of trend is the breakdown of an important trendline. The higher the formation of broad shift in price and duration will be more important temporal resolution.
The volume is another aspect that helps to confirm the resolution and the importance of the figure.
